About

Hi, my name is Emily, and I’m a writer and editor based in Melbourne, Australia.

I was born and raised in Southwest Victoria, Australia. I’ve always been captivated by stories and the art of storytelling and have known that it’s what I want to do since I was taking writing classes at five years old. I remember how excited I was when I discovered that the occupation of editor exists because it meant that I could help other people bring their stories to life too.

To this end, I studied a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Creative Writing, and English and Theatre Studies followed by a Master of Creative Writing, Publishing and Editing, both at the University of Melbourne. I’ve always been drawn to fiction, novels in particular as I find it too hard to fit everything I want to say into a short story. I also branched out to poetry and then screenwriting at university.

I have been editing professionally since 2016, both in a publishing house and then as a freelancer. I have edited academic works and a range of fiction and non-fiction books, including Janie Marie’s Big Bad Wolf trilogy, which was an international bestseller.
